Carlotte Kiekens MD (Belgia/Włochy)

Carlotte Kiekens is a Physical & Rehabilitation Medicine (PRM) physician and director of the Spinal Unit at Montecatone Rehabilitation Institute in Italy since January 2020. Before, she was head of clinic in the department of PRM at the University Hospitals Leuven (UZ Leuven) in Belgium. In 2016 she co-founded Cochrane Rehabilitation and is currently Co-Director. She is the chair of the ISPRM-WHO Liaison Committee and is involved in the development of an International Classification of Service Organizations in Rehabilitation (ICSO-R).She is a Senior Fellow of the European Board of PRM. She was general secretary of ESPRM between 2015 and 2018 and is the chair of the Professional Practice Committee at the UEMS PRM Section. Since 2014 she is a member of the European Academy of Rehabilitation Medicine. She published over 100 papers and 20 book chapters.

Marinella Galea MD, (USA)

 Marinella Galea, MD , is an Assistant Professor of PM&R at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and Assistant Professor of Medicine at New York Medical College. Dr Galea serves as the Chief of Spinal Cord Injury and Disorder at the James J Peters VAMC in NY. Dr Galea is a graduate of the University of Milan Medical School, Italy. She completed a post-doctoral program at New York Hospital Cornell Medical Center in endocrinology and applied physiology and completed her residency in Internal Medicine at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York. She trained in Spinal Cord Injury at the James J Peters VAMC and is board certified in Internal Medicine and Spinal Cord Injury Medicine. Dr Galea is a principal investigator of several spinal cord injuries research studies including biomarkers for pressure ulcers, the use of artificial intelligence to monitor disease course, and most recently, site principal investigator on the use of Nitazoxanide for post-exposure prophylaxis of COVID-19. She has published in several peer reviewed journals on gastrointestinal, endocrine and cardiovascular consequences of SCI and the use of telemedicine in rehabilitation.
